MirrorSaver
Anyone who has backed out of their garage and taken off their side-view mirror in the process, this device is for you. Currently in discussion with some of the leading garage door manufacturers, MirrorSaver creates an invisible beam system – similar to, and incorporated into the emergency door stop – to sound an alarm if a portion of the vehicle is about to hit the frame of the garage door. With the cost of sideview mirrors over $1,000 on some vehicles, this design will provide an extra layer of security and confidence.
MirrorSaver has been awarded a United States Patent for “System for Protecting Vehicles from Damage in a Confined Space”. Patent # 11,011,060.
Critter Foiler
There are several bear-resistant carts on the market, but the vast majority of waste cart / animal issues are other “critters” that don’t require such resilience. Raccoons, crows, coyote, and other animal are not as strong as a bear and stopping them does not require a bear-resistant cart in durability or cost.
Our product, CritterFoiler(tm) has just received patent approvals; both for the “device” and for the “method”. It is the first low cost, OEM or retrofit and repairable device to stop 100% of other-than-bear “critters”.
The City of Toronto issued a $31,000,000 contract to try and solve a raccoon issue. The raccoons could open the waste carts. And Toronto is not the only city with the challenge of animals accessing trash, recycling, and compost bins. Temecula, California has a crow problem. And the list goes on, and not even getting into the impact on the animals themselves.
We attempted to make CritterFoiler bear-resistant but quickly learned that bears are tremendously powerful animals and destroyed the test units in minutes. We received permission from the town of Incline Village NV, to test CritterFoiler, and Waste Management allowed us to modify the carts used here for regular trash. In the end, the Waste Management manager said “you’ve made a better mousetrap”.
Two years in development, testing and now approved, CritterFoiler ™ is – at its most basic – a single-cylinder lock. The key insertion is using one hand, turning the key to unlock uses the other. No critter has yet to figure out how to open the lock, and it’s not likely one will.
Koast-All Family
Kayak-Koaster began its life as a boat rack accessory, and was soon discovered to be applicable to so much more. Kayak-Koaster mounts to the front rail of a storage rack, allowing the kayak, canoe, or paddleboard to glide onto the rack. The design also can be applied to enable nearly any large item to “koast” when placed appropriately.
DRDesigns has begun to receive feedback from Kayak-Koaster users, and across the board it has been positive. “My very first impression was that the kayak glides so easily on the ball bearings that I was losing control of it a bit. I’m used to having to put a lot more muscle into removing it.”
